On October 1, 2024, the third grant competition for rural public schools was announced, which is being held by the Tamaz Bekaia Educational Fund.
The goal of the project this year, as in previous years, was the same – to support and improve the educational process for students and teachers living in rural areas who face infrastructural and educational challenges.
The project was again held in three stages 👇
◾ In the first stage, participants in the competition had to submit a 100-word project.
◾ Schools that advanced to the second stage had to submit a 200-word project with a cost estimate.
◾ In the third stage, the winning schools were traditionally identified.
The first stage ended on November 1, 350 applications were received, which were reviewed by the jury members and 20 schools that advanced to the second stage were identified.
◾Mindia Ugrekhelidze, Georgian jurist, academician.
◾Nino Psuturi, winner of the 2023 National Teacher Award.
◾Goga Chanadiri, Head of Projects at the Tamaz Bekaia Educational Fund.
And, in the second stage, the jury was joined by:
◾Levan Bekaia, Director of the Tamaz Bekaia Educational Fund.
From the 20 schools that advanced to the second stage, the jury objectively identified three winning schools, two of which have high-mountain status:
◾LeLP Marneuli Municipality Village Kachagani N1 Public School
The project aims to create an inclusive, interactive space that will help non-Georgian-speaking students: better learn the Georgian language using practical and modern methods, understand civic education and develop civic values, and overcome social barriers, which will promote their full involvement in Georgian society.
◾LeLP Tsageri Municipality Village Lukhvano Public School (High-mountain Village Public School)
The project aims to have students study the history and ancient customs of the village, revive ancient traditions together with the teacher, and create an interesting Lechkhumi environment for tourists by arranging an ethno corner. For this purpose, the demonstration plot will be sown with ancient Georgian wheat varieties: “Makha” and “Zanduri”
◾LEPL Dmanisi Municipality Village Didi Dmanisi Public School (Highland Village Public School)
The project aims to deepen students’ knowledge in the STEM field, develop critical thinking and practical skills for them. A STEM club will be established at the school, for which the school needs modern laboratory equipment.
Each winning school will receive eight thousand GEL from the fund, which will be used for the infrastructural or educational purposes presented in the project.
